Community

Sandylands Methodist Church is passionate about engaging with its community, sharing the Love of God in word and deed.

Here are some initiatives we are involved in.

CAP: For further information on the Kendal and District Debt Centre please visit this link: https://www.facebook.com/Kendalanddistrictdebtcentre/

Schools: We have good links with our primary schools and local secondary school. These include; Stramongate School, Castle Park School, Sandgate School, Sandgate@QKS and Queen Katherine School.

Churches Together in Kendal: See what is going on across the Churches in our local community. Visit CTiK Website >>

Sandylands Residents’ Association: We are actively involved with the Sandylands Residents’ Association, and have assisted them in projects such as cleaning up the Haytons cut-through, hosting their Jubilee Celebrations, cleaning up the BT site on Sandylands Road, being part of the Lakes Comic Art Festival and creating a tiled piece of artwork during our Togetherness Day.

Following Storm Desmond in December 2015, the church provided much needed support for the community, including giving practical support for the flood victims in terms of applying for flood grants, distributing food parcels and being a listening ear for any concerned residents. We are actively involved with the North East Flood Action Group, who have helped bring the community together in the aftermath of the floods.

We also worked with Sandylands residents to arrange a community litter pick. We strongly believe in cherishing and enhancing our environment so we cleared, tidied and planted up a small area in Broad Ing and entered the area in the 2017 Kendal In Bloom Community competition.
